How to set up your bursary payments
In order to begin receiving your bursary payments, the following needs to be done:
- Details of new bursaries are supplied to the bursaries office by the Senior Postgraduate Administrator.
- You must provide details of your UK bank account in the MyImperial student portal. If you are an Overseas student, it is strongly recommended you make the arrangements for a UK bank account in advance or arriving in the UK.
- You must complete registration formalities as soon as possible. You will receive an email from Registry approximately a month before your start date telling you what to do.
You will not receive your payments until these three steps have been completed.
When am I paid?
Pay day for bursaries is normally the 7th of each month, unless this falls at a weekend in which case it is the preceding Friday. There is sometimes a supplementary payment run in the middle of the month, to pick up transactions which have missed the main run.
I've not received a payment I was expecting, what should I do?
- Check that the person who told you that you would receive a bursary payment has followed through the process. Please contact n.moult@imperial.ac.uk in the first instance. The letter or email informing you of your bursary should state the amount and the planned end date.
- Check that you have provided bank details through the student portal.
- Check your enrolment status. This may be problematic of you are on interruption of studies or at writing-up stage of a PhD.
- Contact the bursary office. It is always possible that a request for your bursary payment reached us after the processing deadline, in which case it will automatically be included in the next payment run.
Making changes to your bursary
During the course of your PhD, you may need to make changes to your bursary payments. These are usually done by repeating the processes detailed above. For instance, if you are awarded a new scholarship mid-way through your PhD, a new bursary form needs to be submitted.
If you are changing your bank account, you will need to log-in to MyImperial and update your details.
If you go on Interruption of Study, your payments are automatically deferred until your return to College.
