Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering!  We look forward to meeting you in October.  We have information on this page for you to help you prepare for coming to study with us.

Students starting in Autumn 2021

These pages will be updated with information specifically for students joining us this year. Please note that some of the information here will change as revised arrangements are put in place.

The main College web pages for new students are also very useful.

Course modules

Please refer to the curriculum web page for details of module options available. Use the list of options under the EE3 and EE4 tabs. Students wishing to follow Business and Humanities/Language modules should let Mrs Clare Drysdale c.drysdale@imperial.ac.uk know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made to reserve you a place on the very popular courses.

Visas

If you are an overseas student and visiting the Department for 6 months or less, you will need to apply for a Short-term Sudy Visa, more information on that here

For visits of more than 6 months, you will need a Tier 4 Visa and postgraduates would have to apply for ATAS

Health and vaccination advice

The current recommendation is that all students are vaccinated against Meningitis C and MMR (measles, mumps and rubella). Meningitis is rare but it is a serious disease which can easily spread among students living in close proximity. If you are unable to access these vaccinations in your home country before coming to the UK, you can get them free of charge from a GP in the UK. If you haven't been vaccinated by the time you arrive, make an appointment as soon as you have registered with a GP.

There is an Imperial College Health Centre, their website is here: http://www.imperialcollegehealthcentre.co.uk/regareas.shtml You have to register once you are here and have a College ID.

International students requiring a Tier 4 Visa:

If you have been in one of the countries listed in Appendix T of the Immigration Rules for more than six months immediately preceding your Tier 4 application then you will need to provide a medical certificate confirming that you are clear of tuberculosis (TB).

More information, including how to book a TB test can be found on the Home Office website.

Registration

You must register online before arriving on campus.

Before you start, you will need:

  • A photograph and (if you are an overseas student) a copy of your passport photo page
  • Your passport and Visa information (International students only)
  • To print off the Registration Confirmation page and bring it with you on your first day.
